My Story

Me and Maren Working Hard At The Studio
My story all starts when I was a short, skinny 14 year old wanting to get bigger and stronger. But then again, what kid at that age doesn’t want to get bigger and stronger?
The moment I stepped into that old, run down high school weight room, I knew I was in the right place.
Not just because I knew I could accomplish what I was after (performing better in sports…and looking better for girls – hey, at least I’m honest), but because I knew I found something that would challenge me and always keep me learning.
Fitness and workout design was something that came easy to me. Both because I had an insatiable desire to learn about the human body and how it worked and because I wanted to see what I could do.
Fast forward a number of years and I became a “skinny fat” college freshman, my body and mind wasting away in a computer lab writing idiotic codes for a program that wouldn’t work and I knew something had to change. How I came to be in this computer science/engineering major I had no idea, but I knew it wasn’t going to work out.
I had to get back to what I loved and that meant getting back into fitness and venturing farther into my knowledge of the muscular system through massage therapy.
From there I attended the Myotherapy Institute for Massage Therapy in Lincoln, NE, and specialized in deep tissue and sports massage, while at the same time feasting on any fitness certifications and books I could get my hands on.
After a short stint working at UNL, and sitting on my butt (again) for hours a day working behind a desk doing a job I hated, I decided it was “now or never” to venture out on my own and open my own business.
It was then that I started ELS Massage & Personal Training as a way for people to accomplish their weight loss and fitness goals in a private training studio. I knew I hated the thought of working out in giant health clubs and I knew there were a lot of other people out there just like me and I had to figure out a way to cater to those people.
My goal when starting my business was to create a comfortable, private, non-intimidating atmosphere where I could teach people how to learn to enjoy exercise and being healthy, while helping them accomplish their goals.

Sorry for the shirtless picture, but thought it might help to know I'm not an idiot trainer and actually practice what I preach!
I knew that people didn’t enjoy working out in big health clubs either because they were uncomfortable, didn’t feel like spending the money, or just wanted to workout from home and because of that, all he workout programs I design can be done quickly from the comfort of your own home, or even while traveling. I strive to make things as easy as possible for my clients to fit in their workouts and accomplish their goals. That was over 6 years ago and I have never looked back (and just as an fyi, I’ve been a trainer and massage therapist for 10 years…so I’m no spring chicken).
After a few years running and growing my studio, I needed to figure out how to branch out and help more people.
It was at that point that I wrote fat loss workout program that could be done from the comfort of home, in only 10 minutes a day called Fat Loss To Go. I wanted to reach people all over the world, not just in Lincoln, which is why it’s a downloadable program, rather than an actual book. It’s designed specifically for busy parents because that’s what I am and whom I empathize with. Not only can the workouts be done in 10 minutes, but also I include diet information, workout videos and add-on workouts for all those trouble spots moms and dads love to hate like their abs, arms, and legs. It was also at that point that I started my Ladies Only Boot Camps. I truly love working with my boot camp ladies every week. I get so much joy seeing them working harder than they thought they could and see the sense of accomplishment and joy on their faces when they reach their goals. To sum up…I love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else. I love my business, I love my clients and will do just about anything to help them reach their goals.
