Hi Angela,
I recommend eating peanut butter for a few reasons. However, before I get into those reasons, I need to say that the ONLY peanut butter I recommend is All-Natural peanut butter. Anything not labeled all-natural is loaded with sugar and has the healthy fats removed making it no better than a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

1 - It's good for you. It's a good source of protein and fat and is loaded with phytonutrients and fiber.

2 - It's a quality source of nutrition that gets you going and keeps your stomach full for a long time. If you don't feel hungry...you won't eat.

Beyond the first thing I said about the all-natural, you also need to remember that peanut butter is pretty calorie dense meaning it has a lot of calories per serving. So even though it's "good for you", it can still make you gain weight - in fact, when I was a teenager trying to gain weight one of the things I did was eat peanut butter by the spoonful because it had so many calories per serving.

I typically eat raw peanuts or almonds rather than relying on peanut butter, but I will have all-natural peanut butter spread on whole grain crackers (not many) as a snack.

You could slice up some apples and dip them in a serving of peanut butter for a good snack, or have it in addition to some all-natural yogurt for breakfast and you'd be good to go.

I eat an apple with a spoonful of peanut butter before i workout and have my breakfast smoothie after. I hope that's OK. i exercise in the morning so I don't eat anything again until lunch and I don't get hungry at all. it's been working pretty well for me since i started doing it.

What do you think Ed?
